Who We Are
Lake Day Caretaking is a locally owned and operated service specializing in vacation home caretaking. Our family has lived on Birch Lake for five generations, building, maintaining, and curating our five-acre family compound since 1929. We own and operate a vacation rental and are well-connected with local contractors, having experience in all aspects of rural property management. We understand the complexities of rural home systems management and lake property ownership in Northeastern Minnesota, including the care it takes to create lasting memories. Off-season Checks
Home Systems Management
Our services include a thorough inspection of your property, both outside and inside, with a focus on home systems management. We pay special attention to windows, doors, security, vents, and any potential leaks from water, gas, or the roof. Our team monitors electrical systems, climate control, CO2 and smoke alarms, as well as water and waste systems. We walk the property, checking outbuildings, clearing walkways and entries, and inspecting gardens and wild areas, including the shoreline. Our vacation home caretaking services also cover delivery pickup and securing your property. We conduct post power outage and storm checks, pest remediation, and address any other areas you may need monitored at your home or rural property management. Recorded or live video is included for your peace of mind.

Home Systems Management
Home Systems Management
We specialize in home systems management for your property, including tasks like priming and draining rural water systems, changing water, septic, and air filters. Our services extend to monitoring home fueling levels, septic monitoring, wireless system reboots, appliance removal and installation, in-person home security systems checks, game cameras, and heating and cooling systems monitoring and routine maintenance. The list continues based on your specific needs in rural property management and vacation home caretaking! Plus, it’s just $49 per visit plus the cost of supplies.

Seasonal opening/closing
We can manage the seasonal opening and closing of your vacation home to your liking, whether it's before your arrival or at the end of any season. Just show up and start enjoying! Our comprehensive home systems management includes a complete check, reset, and start when needed. We will prime or drain the water system, adjust heating, clean and freshen the space, manage power, prepare outdoor areas, mow and trim the lawn, and even handle provisioning and pest remediation. Maintenance

Lake Day offers comprehensive home systems management for your boats, OHVs, and other seasonal vehicles. Our services include cleaning gutters, pressure washing, completing repairs and handy work, performing non-technical tree and brush removal, roof raking, and basic lawn care including watering and trimming. We also provide solid waste transfer station trips, gravel road maintenance, and various odd jobs upon request, making us a reliable choice for rural property management and vacation home caretaking.
Pricing starts at $45/hour plus supplies.

We'll work with you to coordinate and schedule building, remodeling, utility, and other contractors as part of our home systems management services, so you don't need to be there when they are. We can prepare your property ahead of guests, ensuring your rural property management needs are met.
